Crowder hosted Mineral Area on Saturday in its Annual Play 4 Kay Cancer Awareness game. The Roughriders struggled to make shots in the first quarter but their defense kept it close as the Cardinals took an 18-12 lead. Crowder outscored their opponents by four to pull within 30-28 at the half. The Roughriders were able to take the lead after three quarters at 58-57. The fourth quarter saw several lead changes as Crowder tied it up 62-62 on a Maia Wright basket off a nifty pass from Teri Leaf. The Cardinals hit a 3 pointer on the ensuing possession to take a 65-62 lead that they never relinquished and held on for the 71-70 victory. Fiona Wilson led Crowder with 15 points and 2 steals. Wright and Makayla White both had double doubles with 12 points and 13 rebounds and 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Leaf had a team high 6 assists. Crowder drops to 14-12 and 1-5 in Region 16. The Roughriders are on the road next Wednesday against State Fair at 5:30 PM.
