Crowder Baseball Powers Through 4–1 Week, Takes Series from Jefferson

Crowder College baseball put together a productive week at home, highlighted by a run-rule offensive explosion against Connors State and a competitive Show Me Conference series with Jefferson College. The Roughriders showcased depth on the mound, timely hitting throughout the lineup, and resilience across a five-game stretch.


March 10 – vs. Connors State College

Crowder 12, Connors State 6

Crowder opened the week with an impressive 12–6 victory over nationally ranked Connors State College (21–5), scoring in five different innings and finishing with 12 runs on 12 hits.

After Connors jumped out to an early 2–0 lead, Crowder answered immediately, plating two runs in the first and continuing to apply pressure with a five-run third inning that swung the momentum firmly in the Roughriders’ favor.
Maddox Morrison led the offensive surge, going 2-for-6 with a two-run home run, while Cale Winfrey drove in three runs and Rylan Michel added two RBIs. Ryan Stalony reached base four times and scored three runs.

On the mound, Crowder used four pitchers to hold Connors in check. Jackson Tuttle earned the win with three innings of relief, while Conner Brown and Will Rushing combined for three scoreless innings to close out the game.


March 13 – vs. Jefferson College (Show Me Conference)

Game 2: Crowder 7, Jefferson 6

Crowder opened Show Me Conference play with a doubleheader sweep of Jefferson College on Friday.

In Game 1, Crowder broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning, cruising to an 8–2 victory. Maddox Morrison delivered a standout performance, going 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs. Lawson Ward and Hudson Hosman also contributed RBIs as Crowder finished with 11 hits.
On the mound, Eli Crecelius picked up the win, striking out seven over 5.1 innings, while Nathan Defries closed the door with 1.2 scoreless innings.

Game 2 saw Crowder withstand a late Jefferson rally in a 7–6 win. The Roughriders jumped out to a 4–0 lead in the first inning and added key insurance runs late. Jansen Roberts drove in two runs, while Rylan Michel collected three hits and an RBI.
Seth Carlson struck out eight over six innings, Sawyer Owens earned the win in relief, and Will Rushing recorded his third save of the season with a scoreless ninth.


March 14 – vs. Jefferson College (Show Me Conference)

Game 4: Jefferson 12, Crowder 1

Saturday’s series finale began with another tightly contested win before Jefferson salvaged the final game.

In the opener, Crowder edged Jefferson 3–2 behind strong pitching and timely situational hitting. The Roughriders scored runs via sacrifice flies and RBI groundouts, with Camren Stratton, Carlo Almendarez, and Hudson Hosman driving in runs.
Mason Schirmer earned the win, striking out 10 over 5.1 innings, while Nathan Defries picked up the save with 1.2 dominant innings.

Jefferson responded in the series finale, capitalizing on big innings late to secure a 12–1 victory. Crowder was limited to four hits, with Lawson Ward driving in the lone run. Jefferson broke the game open with a five-run seventh inning.
