NEOSHO, Mo. — Crowder College baseball endured a demanding slate of games from February 9–13, opening the week with two tough losses to national contender Johnson County Community College before bouncing back with a competitive road‑and‑home series against Rose State College. The Roughriders went 3–3 over the six‑game stretch, highlighted by a shutout victory and strong individual performances across the roster.
February 9 — Johnson County Sweeps Crowder in Run‑Rule Games
Game 1: JCCC 20, Crowder 2 (5 innings)
Johnson County’s offense exploded early and often, scoring in every inning on the way to a 20–2 win. The Cavaliers hammered out 17 hits, including five home runs, and used a pair of big six‑run frames to pull away.
Crowder managed just two hits — an RBI double from Dominik Morgan and a solo home run from Ryan Stalony, who accounted for both Roughrider runs. Starter Victor Christal earned the win for JCCC, striking out seven across four innings.
Game 2: JCCC 15, Crowder 5 (7 innings)
The Cavaliers struck for seven runs in the first inning and never trailed, completing the sweep with another run‑rule victory. Despite the loss, Crowder collected 10 hits, including home runs by Dominik Morgan and Paxton Flagg.
Morgan went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI, while Camren Stratton added a pair of hits and an RBI. JCCC’s Ryan Bradford starred again with a home run and four RBI.
February 12 — Crowder Splits Wild Extra‑Innings Battle at Rose State
Game 1: Crowder 8, Rose State 7 (11 innings)
In one of the most competitive games of the season, Crowder outlasted Rose State in 11 innings thanks to a two‑run outburst in the top of the 11th.
Hudson Hosman delivered a pivotal performance, going 2-for-4 with a home run, double, and two RBI. Carlo Almendarez also homered, while Maddox Morrison tripled and drove in a run.
Pitcher Sawyer Owens earned the win in impressive fashion, throwing four scoreless innings without allowing a hit.
Game 2: Rose State 6, Crowder 3
Crowder led 3–0 through four innings behind strong early work from Nathan Defries, who tossed four scoreless frames. But Rose State erupted for six runs in the fifth — five of them charged before an error extended the inning — swinging the momentum.
Rylan Michel provided the big swing for Crowder with a two‑run homer, while Maddox Morrison added two hits and an RBI. Rose State’s Tanner Wallace blasted a grand slam to cap the decisive inning.
February 13 — Crowder Wins Home Doubleheader
Game 1: Crowder 3, Rose State 0
Behind a dominant outing from Mason Schirmer, Crowder blanked Rose State 3–0 in seven innings. Schirmer scattered six hits across six shutout innings, striking out six before handing the ball to Will Rushing, who closed out the save.
All three Crowder runs came in the first inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Lawson Ward and an RBI single from Carlo Almendarez. Paxton Flagg and Nathan Spengler also contributed extra‑base hits.
Game 2: Crowder 6, Rose State 2
Crowder capped the series with another strong pitching performance, this time from Seth Carlson, who fired six innings without allowing an earned run. Carlson struck out six and allowed just five hits.
Offensively, Rylan Michel sparked the lineup with a 4-for-4 day, scoring twice and stealing a base. Spencer Mounce crushed a two‑run home run and added a sacrifice fly, while Jansen Roberts drove in two more.
