Roughrider Softball Picks Up Three Wins on the Week
Crowder College softball continued its strong late‑season run with three wins in four games last week, sweeping North Central Missouri College on the road before splitting a tough doubleheader at Three Rivers College.
April 14 – Crowder 5, North Central 2 (Game 1)
Crowder broke open a tight game with a three‑run top of the seventh to secure a 5–2 win. Callie Cooper led the offense by reaching base three times and scoring three runs, while Evelyn Comstock delivered a pair of RBIs. Faith Evans added three hits, including a double, and drove in a run.
In the circle, Tessa Groeneveld set the tone, allowing just one hit over 4.2 innings with five strikeouts. Olivia Hemme closed the game with 2.1 scoreless innings to earn the win as Crowder limited North Central to four hits.
April 14 – Crowder 5, North Central 2 (Game 2)
The Roughriders completed the sweep behind clutch power and speed. Faith Evans powered the offense with a three‑run home run and finished with four RBIs, while Evelyn Comstock scored twice and added two hits. Josie Henson sparked the lineup with a run scored and a stolen base.
Olivia Hemme delivered a complete‑game performance, striking out six while allowing just two hits and two runs. Crowder’s defense also played cleanly, committing no errors in the nightcap.
April 19 – Crowder 7, Three Rivers 2 (Game 1)
Crowder jumped out early with seven runs in the first three innings to earn a 7–2 victory. Madelief Croonen and Faith Evans each homered, while Evans drove in two runs. Carly Cook had a big game with a triple and two RBIs, and Josie Henson added a hit and scored.
Hemme was once again dominant in the circle, going the distance and allowing just three hits and one earned run.
April 19 – Crowder 5, Three Rivers 6 (Game 2)
In a back‑and‑forth finale, Crowder came up just short in a 6–5 loss. Josie Henson had a standout performance, going 4‑for‑4 with two RBIs. Layla Pasley and Evelyn Comstock combined for five hits, and Callie Cooper drove in a run.
Crowder outhit Three Rivers 13–7, but the host team capitalized on timely home runs to edge ahead late.
