Roughriders Hit the Road to Oklahoma

Crowder Softball Battles Through Tough Stretch in Trip through Oklahoma

Crowder College softball faced a demanding slate of opponents from February 25 through March 1, taking part in multiple contests across Oklahoma. The Roughriders showed flashes of power and resilience throughout the road trip, picking up key wins while also weathering several narrow and hard‑fought losses.

FEBRUARY 25 – Crowder 9, NEO A&M 10 (Game 1)

Crowder opened the trip with a wild, back‑and‑forth battle against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. The Roughriders built early leads behind multi‑hit performances from Karlee McCallister (3-for-3, 3 RBI) and Madelief Croonen (2 RBI), but NEO rallied with a five‑run sixth inning to edge out a 10–9 finale. Crowder tallied 12 hits and stole nine bases in the narrow defeat.

FEBRUARY 25 – Crowder 5, NEO A&M 6 (Game 2)

In the rematch, Crowder again came up just short. Layla Pasley led the offense with two hits and two runs, while Evelyn Comstock and Josie Henson each drove in runs. Despite tying the game twice, Crowder couldn’t overcome NEO’s late offense and fell 6–5.

FEBRUARY 27 – NOC Enid 8, Crowder 4

Against Northern Oklahoma College–Enid, the Roughriders struggled early as Enid pushed across four second‑inning runs. Karlee McCallister’s two‑RBI triple in the fifth sparked Crowder’s offense, but NOC Enid added insurance late to secure an 8–4 win.

FEBRUARY 27 – Crowder 9, Western Oklahoma State 4

Crowder rebounded convincingly with a strong, extra‑inning victory. Tied 4–4 heading into the eighth, the Roughriders exploded for five runs, fueled by a three‑run homer from Josie Henson, her latest standout moment of the season. Pitchers Josilynn Wyrick and Olivia Hemme combined to allow just two earned runs over eight innings.

FEBRUARY 28 – Seminole State 4, Crowder 2

Crowder showed grit after falling behind 4–0 early, cutting the deficit in half with a two‑run third inning highlighted by Callie Cooper’s RBI double. Strong relief pitching kept Crowder within reach, but Seminole held on to take the 4–2 win.

FEBRUARY 28 – Crowder 6, Eastern Oklahoma State 5

Crowder earned a hard‑fought victory thanks to a fast offensive start, scoring six runs through the first four innings. McCallister continued her hot streak with two hits and two RBI, while Madelief Croonen added another multi‑hit performance. The Roughriders held off a late five‑run push from Eastern to seal the 6–5 win.

MARCH 1 – Murray State 9, Crowder 0 (Game 1)

Facing undefeated ace Isabella Hardeman, Crowder was held without a hit in a 9–0 run‑rule setback. Murray State’s offense applied constant pressure, scoring in four of five innings.

MARCH 1 – Murray State 8, Crowder 5 (9 innings) (Game 2)

Crowder bounced back with determination in the second matchup, jumping ahead 3–0 and later leading 5–2 after four innings thanks to a three‑hit game from Karlee McCallister and a two‑RBI performance from Callie Cooper. Murray State, however, rallied late and completed the comeback with a three‑run ninth to take the 8–5 extra‑inning decision.
