Crowder Falls in Overtime Thriller to No. 19 Three Rivers College
The Crowder College women’s basketball team went toe-to-toe with nationally ranked No. 19 Three Rivers on Saturday afternoon at home, falling just short in an 87-84 overtime battle.
In a game that featured 10 lead changes and relentless energy on both ends of the floor, the Roughriders (17-12, 4-8) proved they could compete with one of the top teams in the region before Three Rivers (24-5, 9-3) escaped in the extra period.
Both teams came out locked in defensively, playing to a 15-15 tie after the first quarter. Crowder gained a slight edge heading into halftime, 38-31, but Three Rivers refused to back down.
The Roughriders matched the visitors shot for shot in the third quarter, and took an eight point lead entering the final frame. Three Rivers then outscored Crowder 26-18 in the fourth quarter to force overtime after a late surge capped by clutch free throws and key defensive stops.
In overtime, Three Rivers capitalized at the free-throw line and on second-chance opportunities to narrowly secure the 87-84 victory.
Crowder was paced by a dominant performance from Lexie Henry, who poured in 28 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including three three-pointers, and went 9-of-11 from the free-throw line. Henry added five rebounds, four assists, and two blocks in a complete effort.
Aubri Wilson added 23 points and six rebounds, while knocking down nine field goals. Wilson also contributed three assists and two steals.
Additional contributions came from:
-
Kylee Cole – 7 points off the bench
-

-
