Roughriders Fall 89-79 in Hard-Fought Road Battle at Moberly

The Crowder College women’s basketball team battled until the final horn Saturday afternoon but came up short in an 89-79 road loss to Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Missouri.

Crowder showed resilience throughout, trimming deficits and answering runs, but a strong fourth quarter by the host Greyhounds proved to be the difference.

The Roughriders opened with steady offensive execution, trailing just 16-13 after the first quarter. Crowder found a rhythm in the second period, pouring in 22 points to take a 35-33 lead heading into halftime in a tightly contested matchup.

The third quarter remained competitive, with both teams trading baskets. Crowder entered the final frame within striking distance after an 18-point third quarter, but Moberly used a 34-point fourth-quarter surge to pull away late.

Sophomore Aubri Wilson paced the Roughriders with 18 points, attacking the rim and converting 8-of-11 from the free-throw line. She added five rebounds, three assists, and five steals in an all-around effort.

Camdyn Hart added 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including a three-pointer, while Lexie Henry contributed 14 points and three assists. Barbara Perandini chipped in eight points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers, and dishing out three assists.

Kylee Cole provided a spark off the bench with 10 points, hitting three field goals and going a perfect 3-for-3 at the line. Anja Sodergard added six points and two assists in reserve minutes.

Despite forcing 17 turnovers and recording 11 steals, Crowder was outrebounded 54-24. Moberly capitalized on second-chance opportunities and consistent trips to the free-throw line, finishing 37-of-43 (86%) at the stripe.

Moberly was led by Nila Wills’ 41-point, 22-rebound performance, while Abygail Thivierge added 21 points.

Crowder falls to 17-9 (4-5 Region 16).  The Roughriders return home to host #12 State Fair on Saturday at 2:00 PM
